Professional photographer with special interest in travel, nature and abstract photography
California born, I am drawn to the mountains. Skiing, hiking and backpacking, give me the opportunity to experience and photograph the Sierra’s awesome presence. Its beauty and peacefulness as well as the fearsome, humbling power of the mountain landscape impose a sense of perspective onto my life and provide a perfect background for my contemplation and photography.
Currently I find that, as with the mountains, I like to photograph places where the feeling of space and freedom is the subject especially ones that convey the sense they are caught in the past. I also add into the mix, close-ups of the small things that help define the chosen landscape.
Travel has allowed me to incorporate new ideas and images: unfamiliar animals, fantastic land and ice forms, old cultures, and ethnic people. I strive to present my photographs in a natural manner with consideration and without judgment. The subject, framed in the setting, so that its’ essential qualities are made clear.
After earning a BA in Art and Interior Design, I continued to enhance my color and compositional skills by working and teaching in both disciplines. My photographic vision and technical ability are continually being sharpened by formal education and through the search for new challenges.
My images are repeatedly displayed in photographic exhibitions, are being published and are held in numerous personal collections.
